Hey there my curious friend!
We couldn’t be more jazzed that you want to learn a bit more about what makes this IPA different from the rest of the IPA’s we make.
LETS GET INTO IT!
So you’re probably asking yourself, What in the world is SPECTRUM® ?
This IPA in your hands was made with a cutting edge new hop product called SPECTRUM®
SPECTRUM® IS HOPS IN LIQUID FORM
Brewers primarily use hops in a pelletized format. The hops are harvested and then quickly kiln dried to lock in the oils and reduce the moisture content. Once dried they are crushed to a powder and pelletized.
Now, the issue with hop pellets or even whole cone hops is that they take up a lot of space in the tank and absorb a lot of liquid. Hop pellets also have diminishing returns as they age so the less fresh they are, the more you have to use!
Due to the slower saturation of pellets and whole hops, they need longer contact times with beer to unlock their full potential of flavour and aroma.
Because SPECTRUM® is just all the good stuff with zero vegetable matter to get in the way, Its effects are almost instant once it’s dosed in! This includes all the glycosidically bound fractions, making them fully available for bio-trans-formation reactions in beer.
Biotransformation is a complex chemical reaction where the yeast cells (the ones we put into the beer to ferment the sugars into alcohol) transform hop components into new, often boldly aromatic compounds.
And because of adding liquid to the beer instead of pellets that absorb it, we are able to get a few more cans into your hands to enjoy.
IPA’s, more than any other beer style, are at the forefront of science, agriculture and experimentation. So look forward to more Field House IPA’s testing the limits of what’s possible in aroma and flavour.
